Money & Reinvestment Guide
Protect the next operating cycle before reinvesting. Separate gross sales from labor, maintenance, transport and upgrade investment, then spend on the constraint that releases the most useful field capacity—not the category with the most dramatic price tag.

Official current-build and patch facts are cited below. Suggested checks are editorial guidance; historical demo sources retain their original dates.
Quick facts
- Assignment belongs to a specific Derrick.
- Passing another rig should no longer cause cross-rig interaction.
- Construction demand determines whether the sale fallback applies.
- With no ore demand, automatic sale is intentional.
- Upgrade level should increase treasure chance.
- The old scaling relationship was not functioning correctly.
- Official progression describes selling crude and reinvesting in technology and expansion.
- A sale receipt is gross value until known costs are subtracted.
- Oil-barrel achievement goals are 1, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 completed sales; ore sales are a different resource.
Current-build changes: 1.0.1
Barrels now keep a specific Derrick assignment rather than interacting with other Derricks they pass. If a barrel appears to head toward the wrong rig, first confirm you are running 1.0.1, then follow that single barrel from its assigned rig to its destination. The patch fixes cross-rig interaction; it does not publish a new sales price or transport speed. The Iron Mine drone now takes Metal Ore for sale when no construction site needs it. Seeing ore leave the mine for a sale destination can therefore be expected behavior in 1.0.1. Before treating a sale as a missing delivery, check every active construction request. The official note describes the fallback condition, not a configurable sale priority menu. Patch 1.0.1 fixes the relationship between Derrick upgrades and treasure-find chance: the chance should now increase with upgrade level. No percentages, guaranteed treasure schedule or exact payout are supplied. Use this as evidence that the upgrade relationship was repaired, not as a promise that your next extraction will find treasure or that treasure income will repay a particular upgrade.

Common mistakes
- Applying pre-patch advice to barrel routing after patch 1.0.1 without comparing the corrected behavior.
- Applying pre-patch advice to iron mine drone automatic selling without comparing the corrected behavior.
- Applying pre-patch advice to derrick treasure chance and upgrades without comparing the corrected behavior.
- Treating an editorial troubleshooting step as an officially tested workaround.
Current context: patch 1.0.1. Historical demo mechanics remain qualified; check the source ledger before treating them as current-build behavior.
